VOC Cannon, 1 pounder, P. Seest, 1768
This beautiful cannon was produced in 1768, for the Amsterdam department of the 'Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie', P. Seest.
All markings are clear with a beautiful VOC-A logo. Clear Amsterdam 'inspection' mark.
The condition is exceptionally fine with a very nice age-patina, completely original and untouched. Has never been restored. Beautiful bore, cast around the core.
The type of cannon is described on Page 7 and 134 Ordnance VII, The Visser Collection, Catalog nr. HV C19, with the weight mark on the base ring reads 239 lb.
The gun original carriage is made by order of H.J. Visser of American pine, with handmade ironwork. Made after the drawings from the archives of the VOC. The carriage is numbered identically with the Visser catalog number '17'.
